Darkest hours

The darkest days, the coldest summers
The brightest nights, the warmest winters
In heart with you, my mind alone too
We’re all in my mind, with or without you

All danced in my dreams
The moons and the stars, their sons, their daughters
Right in the heavens, above Earth's seams
Right in the valley where we first dreamed
Where we first laughed, where we first spoke
Listened to melodies, that made our souls’ symphony

The sun had a saddle, the clouds were its wings
Our hands and our souls
Our hearts and our feet
Burning so brightly, a dreaming horizon

You are the spark, that danced on a wire
Helped me see truth, helped me know fire
You loved us even when split down the centre
Rocks tumbling from mountain, to drown in a river
You found all my pieces and fused them together
When I was whole my life was in colour

And I (you) wish I held you closer
And I (you) wish I'd never falter
And I (you) wish I was an angel
The angel you are, and will always be
With wings like an eagle and mind like a soldier

And I (you) wish to you I mattered
And I (you) wish I knew me better
And I (you) wish I didn't break this shelter
The brightest of hearts break in the darkest of hours
The purest of hearts, the darkest of minds
