Cry angels

Refrain

So cry, angels, for the broken hearts
For the tears of mortals will not carry us far
Remember me, angels, when I could dance in the light
Before the wrong choices worsened my plight?
So cry, angels, for my broken heart
Remember me kindly, I had a dream in my heart

The old beggar stared at the stars in the sky
His tears fell on his newspaper bed
As I walked by his roofless home, something made me stop
I turned and found him still staring up high
From the sorrow in his eyes nothing had to be said
As I knelt at his side his words I will never forget:

Refrain

A teenage girl sat crying under a broken street light
She had bruises and cuts on her childish face
By her clothes and make-up she was a lady of the night
Of her lost innocence there was no longer a trace
Too many devils and demons had claimed her joy
None of them seeing or hearing the child in her voice

Refrain

As I closed my front door behind me, tears fell
I had been touched tonight with the sorrows of life
I had been lucky more than others could tell
The sights of sorrow I had seen made me cry of strife
I fell to my knees and prayed as I never had
Then finally I gave in to my tears as I said:

Refrain

So cry-y angels …
