Concrete Blues

Concrete jungle and a shallow daze
a stone statue's lifeless gaze
Clouds close in on a sunny day
the landscape painted an inanimate grey

As the daylight leaves the streets
and the smoke stacks begin to cease
Don't forget to turn the key
otherwise I'm not sure how safe you'd be

Slave away in a tiny space
spend your life trapped in this place
And all the money that they gave
will never fill an empty grave

All the robots tell you the same
and out of nowhere sadness came
And now I'm really so confused
because I'm so caught up in these concrete blues

So I ran away to find my place
deserting society's claims of my disgrace
And the city lights are fading away
like a fist of sand on a windy day

This ain't no place for my kind
this new world, redefined
This ain't no place for me
because these blues be blinding me
