I read the review by Crito entitled ‘Rabe versus Koorts: Wat staan ’n vrou nou te doen?’ because I was interested in the espoused views on historical writing. In the course of reading, I noticed the use of terms such as ‘history’ and ‘herstory’. I fully support gender equality and also the rights of non-binary people, trans people, MTF, FTM, and people who are desperately trying to work out their own Trans-History. Are they now automatically excluded from Crito’s discussions? By the way, when Crito talks of ‘herstory’ should she not propose that the woman writer be called a Historika rather than the ‘patriarchal’ (and hagiographical?) term, Historikus?
