"Awakening" by Gareth Mostert

Awakening

For years you live, but aren't alive
experiencing life with such deprive
You've forgotten how to yearn
not for the money you earn
or for success in the corporate race
but for cool night air upon your face
For soft green grass
or running rivers to dip your feet
The tops of mountains with icy sheets
Basking in golden rays
thinking back to good old days

But instead of enjoying nature’s joys
you'd better make some more money
and buy some more toys
But one day it will all make sense
and life will become so intense
The calm has passed
on comes the storm
This is your awakening
you are reborn
Your world is bright like lightning
and as loud as thunder
And you realize your world was but a dull grey twilight
that knew not nature’s living wonders
