Ron Irwin

Lecturer in Media Studies and -production

Ron Irwin is a professional lecturer, literary agent and writer. He has edited and sold over a dozen novels to local and international publishers including Penguin (SA), Jacana (SA), Harper Collins (UK), and St Martin’s Press (USA). He was the writer in residence for the University of Cape Town’s prestigious MA in Creative Writing in 2008 after teaching in the programme since 1999.

He worked for two years as a documentary film maker and film agent and is a brand management consultant to numerous companies, including Strategic Name Development in Minneapolis and Interbrand in New York as well as Catalyst Communications in Cape Town. His articles on branding have appeared on www.brandchannel.com, the top online resource for brand management professionals. He has also contributed to The Good Corporate Citizen and The Journal of Brand Management. From 2001-2006 he taught Branding, Business in Context and Thinking About Business for the UCT School of Management Studies.

Ron holds a Masters degree in Literary Studies (UCT) and a Masters in Creative Writing (UCT).
