Minnie Lewis

She is a UCT graduate [BA -1992; BA(Hons) - 1993; HDE (PG) Sec - 1994; Taught at various High Schools in the Cape Peninsula during 1995 with Afrikaans and History as her main teaching subjects. During 1995 she also taught matriculants Afrikaans at the Atlantis Adult Education Centre. MA - 1998; PhD - 2005]. School for Languages and Literature - Afrikaans section - currently in lecturing position since May 2006.

Between 1993 and 2006 she also held the position of a part-time Research Assistant and later Senior Research Assistant at the Centre for Socio-Legal Research in the Law Faculty at UCT. In 2003 she also acted in a lecturing capacity in the BaDr prgramme (Afrikaans) as well as working in the Law Faculty. During 1998 she was involved in The Family Advocate Project: acted in the capacity of interviewer to gather data for the above mentioned project. The task of interviewer called for a great amount of organisational skills and dedication and close working relations with the Director of the Centre, Prof Burman. Archival research and translating: Dutch archival material translated into English. Employment at the Centre also entailed a great measure of data capturing.

Since 2006 she has been teaching in the Medicine and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Faculties. Her duties not only include formal teaching, but also course preparation and presentation, as well as the production of new material. Minnie is also involved with translation projects for post-graduate students as well as other departments at UCT, time permitting.
