Lynette Schultz

I am Lynette Schultz, a 50-something-year-old and married for 30-plenty years. I am a mother, grandmother, gardener, amateur genealogist and avid reader who works in the mornings at a legal practice to sponsor my greatest indulgence – travelling.

My reading list consists mostly of historical biographies and travel (Peter Mayle-style writing). Compilations of quirky and humorous essays/short stories have a special spot on my shelf – an escape from the real world. I also read various newspapers and online history articles.

In short – without books, travel or beauty, the world for me would be the proverbial “life of quiet desperation”, something I resist with every fibre in my body!

"Sy verlang na die son, na die wye vlaktes van die Vrystaat, na die Kalahari se rooi sand, na ’n Karoo-nag met die melkweg teen ’n swart fluweeldak. Sy verlang na die reuk van braaivleis, na die bosveld, Tafelberg en die Drakensberge, na die Kaapse wingerde en fynbos, na boerbeskuit en melktert."

"This novel, the first in a trilogy, sets the stage for an exciting and thrillingly heroic tale of love and loss, family relationships and the consequences of war – both glorious and not."
