Widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most accomplished producers, Helena Spring has produced 34 motion pictures – including the first South African film to be nominated in the Best Foreign Language category at the Academy Awards, Best Foreign Language category at the Independent Spirit and for an Emmy. She has produced many of South Africa’s greatest box office successes.
In recent years, Helena has dedicated much of her time to mentoring emerging writers, directors and producers through their development process, and to producing their debut films, such as Hard to get, Happiness is a four-letter word and Keeping up with the Kandasamys.
Based in Johannesburg, Helena is the recipient of a Mbokodo Arts and Culture Award in the category Women in Film, for her contribution to the development of the South African film industry.
