Bernice Nieuwendam
Bernice Nieuwendam, 49 years old, was born in Suriname but has lived in the Netherlands almost her whole life. She studied Economics in Amsterdam and has two children. Besides her full-time job, she finds the time to work for Stichting Eer en Herstel and to organize workshops on Surinamese traditions, such as the making of the authentic Surinamese hat (agnisa). She is also involved in several women’s projects, which are meant to empower black women.
