Alone
Sit and stare
a moment to compare
With what was
and what is
You begin to miss
what you had
Even though that’s gone now
that’s a different life
And it’s behind you for a reason
As time passes you may forget
but sometimes a voice shouts out in your head
I am alone
And it’s scraping its nails on the wood
and there's no stopping it even if you could
It needs to get out
It's ringing the bell
because it’s rising from the grave
And the pain, like the tides
is growing wave by wave
So you grab the spade and start to dig
until the pain starts to fade
And for now the monster may have fled
but you still hear it ringing on in your head
I am alone
Sometimes you're mad
Sometimes you're sad
But you're not sure why
it's all gone blank
And at any moment you just might snap
or fall back into that trap
Of letting down the wall
sharing your secrets with the world
And once your heart lies on the ground
like shattered glass
goodbye is a familiar sound
Well, if you want the pain to fade
you'd better go and grab that spade
Because you are alone now
and no one’s going to want your heart
Too many broken pieces to reconcile
I want to be alone for a while
