R90 to R120 Computicket

Bishop Lavis, a community tortured by gangsters. Day after day people fight the gangs infesting their streets and killing their children. Bullets over Bishop Lavis is the story of these people. Jerome and Ronnie grew up as blood brothers ... street brothers. One night a shooting changed everything. Ronnie pulled the trigger, but it was Jerome’s face Malaysia saw last. Seven years later Jerome is released looking for his traitor blood brother and discovers that things have changed in Bishop Lavis. This is where the story begins. Ronnie is now a successful criminal lawyer and Jerome an ex-con. Entangled in a new life, haunting secrets and a ghost from the past Ronnie now has to make a decision that will change their lives. Jerome is back to complete the last part of their pact.

A hard-hitting story of love and betrayal, Bullets over Bishop Lavis showcases some of South Africa’s finest talent. Abduragman Adams (Angels Everywhere, Known Gods, Die Joseph en Mary affair, Some Like it Vrot) is accompanied on stage by YOU Spectacular and ATKV Award winner Diaan Lawrenson (7de Laan), Euodia Samson (Die Mary en Joseph Affair; Krimas van Map Jacobs; Tussen Duiwels) and Charlton George (Titus Andronicus, National Theatre London, Die Joseph en Mary Affair, Angels Everywhere, Jesus Hopped the A Train, Onder Engele). Internationally acclaimed and award winning performer Jody Abrahams (District Six-the Musical, Kat and the Kings & Hard Copy) not only directs the hard-hitting Bullets over Bishop Lavis but has also assisted in creating the production with scriptwriter and award winning actor Christo Davids (7de Laan, Some Like It Vrot, My Naam is Ellen Pakkies).

The production enjoyed a successful debut at the Absa KKNK in 2011 where it was nominated for a kykNET Fiesta Award. Additional performances were presented recently at the Suid-Oostefees and at the Woordfees and Bullets over Bishop Lavis now comes to the Baxter Golden Arrow Studio Theatre for a limited season from 23 April until 12 May 2012. Shows run Mondays to Saturdays at 8:15pm and tickets cost from R90 to R120 via Computicket or phone 0861915
