"Why aren’t you weeping?" by Heinrich Koekemoer

Do you see the orphan on the street
His skinny and poor and all bear feet?
Do you cry when you see him all alone
Wondering why his been born to live at all?

Will the rain clean the earth?
Will it make the flowers grow?
For some it must bring plenty joy
But stop for a while
Listen carefully …

Do you here the thunder rumbling, the heavens coming down?
It’s God – He's weeping silently, why aren’t you weeping too?

Brought in by the ambulance
Has been sick and crying for some time
We have ignored him for so long
We’ve even waited until he’s got no more tears

Will the rain clean the earth?
Will it make the flowers grow?
For some it must bring plenty joy
But stop for a while
Listen carefully …

We walk on by
You stop to help
We keep to ourselves
You give it all
We wait to be served like kings and queens
You take up and carry my cross for me …

Do you here the thunder rumbling, the heavens coming down?
It’s God – His weeping silently, why aren’t you weeping too?
