"Under the weather" by Malcolm Norton

Will it ever stop raining?
So many are drowning
While drought is draining
The life out of others
Children and mothers
A vicious circle
Neither Atlas nor Hercules
Could ever square
The air is chilling and heavy with menace
Of far more and much worse to come
This fearful suspense - is killing us
Can nothing be done?

It never rains but it pours, they say
While others plead, Rain, go away!
We don’t need you!
If they’d any clear idea just what they’re about
Would they still all be longing for drought?
When earthquakes are shaking the walls that surround you
Do you seriously wish a tsunami had drowned you before
You read in the news that the world was at war?
War that might bleed you
Dry as the drought
You thought you could not live without?

Chorus:
There’s no doubt about it
I’d rather live without it all
And wallow in the joy of living
While sweet rain is falling, falling
In the season to be giving.

So may it never stop raining!
Though many debtors are drowning
In debt, the wetter it gets
The more they’re complaining!
Spare some thought for others
Their sons and brothers
Pray for a miracle
It’s not empirical
Handle with care!
The air is chilling and heavy with menace
Of far more and much worse to come –
This fearful suspense is killing us
Can’t something be done?

There’s no doubt about it
