"Staring out the window" by David Wilhelm

  • 0

It’s only our car on the road tonight
Not a word spoken all because of a fight
I only want to hear the radio
Stare at my phone and then out the window

Arguing with you in my head
And you are probably doing the same
Reasons come to help justify
What was done to maybe shift the blame

In the silence
We prepare ourselves
Ready to attack
It’s the silence
That breaks us
And holds us back

Already a long drive and the minutes are crawling by
Giving us enough time to either speak the truth or lie
But we choose to instead replay that moment
Now I can not help feel so distant

I want you to stop, I need to get out this car
So you can leave me here and I will see who you really are
To make a point would I do something so foolish
To prove I'm right would I do something so childish

In the silence
We prepare ourselves
Ready to attack
It’s the silence
That breaks us
And holds us back

Almost home and we still haven't said a word
Maybe like me you are afraid you won't be heard
Who wins when you argue in silence
Who wins when you argue in silence
