"Invisible Tears" by Esther Saunders

Take a cloth wipe your eyes
Easy as that after you cry
But think now of the happiest people you have known
Wonder now how much sadness in them has grown
How many invisible tears to us unknown have their hearts infinitely sown?

She wakes up
"Slept?"
"Yes thanks, just enough" said with a smile
Lasting only for a while
Till the second you turn your head
Ignorantly believing what was said
Oblivious to the daily pain she lay with in her bed
With those thoughts in her head, thoughts in her head
Burying this quivering pain in her bed
No evidence on her face, all the words of evidence left unsaid
Only in her head
Always unsaid

A dim light where there was a sparkle in her eye
Blank pieces of emptiness where her heart use to lie

Visible tears seep into the pillow, they cried today but gone tomorrow
But these tears she cries are not invisible to the eyes
They seep into her soul, with just their number one goal
To diminish her slow
Inevitably they get total control
Congratulations, you've achieved your goal
Take my soul placed in my dark hole
Then there you stand above
Finally seeing what you obliviously thought was never there
Invisible tears now will be the same ones you cry
Invisible tears unseen
Cannot be wiped away
Engraved they will not leave, they stay
Invisible tears, so many years
So many years drowned
By my invisible tears
