"Definition Love" by Marvin Smith

Love an unexplained overwhelming
At times consuming emotion
It's depth and value
Immeasurable
So often mistaken
Yet also dismissed
I love not with my eyes
Nor with my mind
Not just my heart
But from my soul
Many trip over lust
And think it's love
Many find love
And think it can't be
But a poet, a poet so true
Never blindly utters
The words 'I love you'
For the quest of finding meaning to those words
Has plagued mankind
Since the beginning
If God is love then I would reckon
Love means you God
And I love you would translate into
I God you
Which would come down to
I will sacrifice everything and all for you
I place my life, my fate, my faith and all that is me
Of me and about me in your hands
I surrender myself to you
I will not slender your good name
Nor will I do anything that would tarnish your good name
I will listen and obey you
I will live in you, for you and with you
I have made you my God
And would treat you adhere to you
And give unto you as such ...
This is why the meaning of love was erased and is lost to the world even though the word and emotions remained
For it is considered blasphemous
Hence why love can never be described
Cause what other way is there to say
U are my God?
So no, I don't just use the term
I love you lightly ...
