"Contrary Evidence" by Esther Saunders

  • 0

I will not think about you. Yet you are formed in my every thought
I will not mention you, yet many a night you've appeared in my dreams
I will not admit to them how I love you, yet this they obtrusively see
I will not miss you, yet I constantly feel it’s you who is missing
I will not wish upon fiery stars for you to return, yet Gemini and Leo with all my wishes burn
I will not attempt to recreate your memory, yet in this, memories of you are once again created
I will not write you a love poem, yet this is what I write
I will not be afraid, yet I have a fear ... Thus I will not ever, in fact ... Never let you read this confession, yet Now beside me you sit and now I have to look at you and admit ... I will not say I love you yet, I really do
What we will, sometimes contrasts what we yet 'do'
I will not love you, yet this is contrary evidence that I 'still' do ...
