"Born of War" by Cez Apello

  • 0

When the night
Stands on the threshold of my world
And the light
Kneels in its wasted game of gold
Then dusk is born
To praise and mourn
One battle lost
One battle won
That is the cost
For only one
Can be the king
When dusk is born to sing

Throughout my life
As I have walked
Throughout the years
I’ve seen them fought
The battles of the world

When the flames
Burn in the summer’s soul and sun
And the frost
Like winter’s wasted face is shunned
Then spring is born
To praise and mourn
One battle lost
One battle won
That is the cost
For only one
Can be the king
When spring is born to sing

And now I stand
And once again I see
Them, sword in hand
And once again the melody
Sung by the spectator
Who stands and watch like me
Ring in my ears
Throughout the years
And battles of the world

As cold and warm
As night and day
As calm and storm
The opposites, they pave the way
And form the path, the field the floor
Where I, the silent spectator
Walk on upon, and so, along
With singers born of war
