"Beauty and the neast" by Alma Muller

Neast wandered disconsolately over the lush green hills
In search of an answer to heal a little boy’s ills
“Please give an old woman a crust of bread”
Was all that the tatty looking old hag said

Neast cared, Neast cared
Even though handsome young Neast was scared

Neast drew the last morsel of food from his pocket
Told woman cried out her thanks, and in exchange, gave him a locket
The gold trinket contained nothing, not even a picture
Yet it had a special attraction this strange silver and gold mixture.

Neast cared, Neast cared
Even though handsome young Neast was scared

A decade passed before Neast visited the hills again –
He ambled down the same green hilly lane.
A vision of beauty sat on a rock –
She turned and the locket she wore caused a shock.

Neast cared, Neast cared,
Even though handsome young Neast was scared

It clearly resembled his gift from ten long years ago -
He recalled the hag’s words, “what ye reap, ye shall surely sow”.
The beauty and Neast and now happily wed
And of their power and wealth you have likely already read

Neast cared, Neast cared
Even though handsome young Neast was scared
