Up the Creek 2014

It's almost that time of year again when music lovers of all shapes and sizes grab their inflatible companions and head to camping grounds outside Swellendam for a few days of river rocking at Up the Creek. This year's festival takes place from 30 January - 2 February and promises no VIP nonsense, pretence or cliques. Just a beautiful river, three epic stages and thirty awesome live bands and our country’s coolest comedy acts.

To warm up for this year's antics, the organisers invited some of the artists that will be performing to join Anne Hirsch in studio to have some fun to the beat of their very own festival song, written and recorded by The Black Cat Bones.

What could be better than partying on a river in the South African summer sun? Nothing, once you top it off with a lineup of awesome local bands, including: Springbok Nude Girls; Gangs of Ballet; Jeremy Loops; Taxi Violence;  Black Cat Bones; Desmond & the Tutus; The Plastics; Shortstraw; Gerald Clark and The Dead Men; Beatenberg; Bed on Bricks; Piet Botha; Matthew Mole and a whole bunch of others.

Festival tickets (R650 for Thursday-Sunday, R500 for Saturday-Sunday) include access to camping space, but if you're more inclined to live in luxury you can hook yourself up with a couple of comfortable pre-pitched tent options. Either way, make sure you don't miss out on the first – and one of the funnest – festivals of the year.
