Someone’s head
must be getting cold by now,
with that hat lying
between the train tracks
Someone who was
looking too far
out the window
maybe, not holding on
to his hat
Maybe he saw
something and wanted
to see it more clearly
Pressed the window
down and let the wind
blow in, blow through him
with his head out
I hope that’s just
how he lost his hat
between stations
Just like that.
Nothing gruesome.
