Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA) announces A streetcar named Desire, Tennessee Williams’s electrifying drama directed by the renowned Chris Weare and starring guest artist Emily Child as Blanche DuBois. The production opens at Theatre on the Bay on 14 August 2024 for a ten-day season. 

Open to unpublished playwrights who are over the age of 18 and living anywhere in South Africa, the competition calls for scripts, partial scripts or script synopses with a sample of writing in any of South Africa’s official languages.

Lights, camera, action! The Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA) is excited to present their much anticipated blockbuster dance production, Hollywood. The show is set to light up the stage from 19 to 29 June 2024 at Theatre on the Bay in Camps Bay.

Miela’s box is a 50 minute radio drama in English and Kaaps. The show will air on Cape Flats Radio, a product of the Cape Flats Stories, and Radio Eersteriver on Sunday 30 June 2024 at 8pm.

IIIFoet (DrieFoet) is Modise Sekgothe, Jotam Schoeman and Umlungu Deluxe. The name IIIFoet, a slang term for a pot standing on three legs, represents a melting pot of diverse flavors and influences, as well as the different cities each member calls home: Johannesburg, Cape Town, and London. The trio has partnered with indie label Paradise Worldwide to release their nine-track album, Metropolar on June 14, 2024 on all major streaming platforms. It promises to deliver a unique fusion of music, spoken word, and visual art.

From 30 May – 14 June 2024, the acclaimed St Olaf Choir (USA), under the baton of its renowned conductor Anton Armstrong, will tour South Africa, with eight concerts and numerous choir collaborations and workshops in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Soweto, KZN and Cape Town. Composed of 75 mixed voices, the St Olaf Choir is hailed as one of the USA’s premier a cappella ensembles, renowned for its artistry and beauty of sound.

The choir ensemble Voces Cordis comprises 75 talented and dedicated young adults from all over the Western Cape who share a passion for choral music and singing. Under the direction of the acclaimed choral conductor André van der Merwe, the choir will return to Stellenbosch for its first gala performance of 2024 on Friday, 24 May as part of the Endler Concert Series.
