Songezo Zibi

Songezo Zibi is chairman of Rivonia Circle, a think tank focused on innovative and more effective ways of driving political participation. Zibi is also a writer and has more than 20 years’ experience in the corporate world, where he worked as a communication and corporate affairs professional and a leader in car manufacturing, mining and banking. 

Before joining Absa as head of communications, Zibi was the editor of Business Day from 2014 to 2016. As a journalist and editor Songezo wrote extensively about South Africa’s political system, economy and social dynamics. Since 2007 he has been a consistent and recognised voice for accountability, good governance, nation-building and the creation of a dynamic, inclusive economy. In January 2022 he launched Rivonia Circle.

Zibi is the author of Raising the bar: hope and renewal in South Africa (2014) and Manifesto: a new vision for South Africa (2022).

Zibi hails from the Eastern Cape and lives in Pretoria with his family.
