Siphokazi Jonas
Siphokazi Jonas is an award-winning poet, playwright, performer and producer. She has produced and staged multiple one-woman poetry and theatre productions in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Jonas has been a featured act at numerous poetry sessions and festivals around the country and abroad. In 2016, she was the runner-up for the Sol Plaatje European Union Award. She is co-producer of the #WeAreDyingHere short film which is an adaptation of the stage production of the same name, which she co-wrote and directed. The film won a SAFTA for Best Short Film in 2022.

In Siphokazi Jonas’ Mkhuseli, a fallen star whose memory was wiped when it fell to earth, stands guard at a shoreline to save the spirits of the drowned.
