Phoka Nyokong

Phoka Nyokong is an artist, curator, writer and researcher. His work is transdisciplinary, involving performance, sound/video and installation, photography, storytelling, curating and writing. He has exhibited his work at the Aardklop Arts Festival, the Turbine Art Fair, the Pretoria Art Museum, Lizamore and Associates, Joburg Fringe, Cape Town ArtWeek and the 2019 Absa L’Atelier Exhibition currently showing in Cape Town at the Absa Dome. He is based in Cape Town, where he is studying towards an honours in curatorship at the Centre for Curating the Archive (CCA) at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, with plans to pursue an MA in live art, interdisciplinary and public art with the Institute for Creative Arts (ICA) IN 2020. He is the recipient of the Absa L’Atelier Gerard Sekoto Award for 2019.
