There are roughly seven billion people on this planet, yet there remains a lot to be said. As a journalist, I hope to fill this gap.
Any newspaper will inform you of the events in your city, and any news programme will tell you the events in your country, or the world for that matter. Any journalist can just move with the tide. Many are independent, provoking, brave, thoughtful and inspiring, which are all essential in becoming an outstanding journalist, but I want to become revolutionary.
There needs to be what some would call a revolution of higher consciousness. The greater part of communities are absent-minded behind the headlines and neckties shown in news programmes. How can some be so entwined with Bieberfever, and overpaid football players, where poverty, war, pollution and deforestation are all rampant, with many reporters, and not enough investigators.
Journalists are there to expose and reveal. There are individuals and companies who wield far more influence that I’d like them to have. They make the decisions that permit the world to co-exist with evils that many literally cannot watch. I want to hold these decision-makers accountable, but I’d rather have everyone hold them accountable.
