Mhlobo Jadezweni

Mhlobo Jadezweni was born in Dutywa, kwaGcaleka. Studied at Fort Hare University (BA). Has been attached to the Department of African Languages at Stellenbosch University since 1983. Teaches isiXhosa literature and language (research field: isiXhosa poetry). Has read a number of research papers at African languages conferences, both national and international and published these papers in various accredited journals. Member of a number of learned associations. During the winter term of 1998-1999, was invited by the University of Leipzig in Germany to teach isiXhosa language and South African literature. In October 2002 was invited as guest lecturer by the University of Bayreuth in Germany. Has served on various isiXhosa language boards since 1984.

Mhlobo Jadezweni, Steyn du Toit 2012-03-15 Mhlobo Jadezweni’s isiXhosa children’s book, uTshepo Mude: Tall Enough has been very popular and has been translated into several languages. He discusses its success, as well as the importance of promoting isiXhosa as a literary language.
