Anthony Turton holds a professorship at the Centre for Environmental Management, University of the Free State.
His doctoral work came from the national security dimension. He was the subject matter specialist for water as a national security risk within the intelligence community and has worked on highly contested rivers like the Nile, Jordan, Tigris/Euphrates, Helmand and others.
His ability to apply intelligence science to the environmental sciences has given him a unique role as a transdisciplinarian.
He serves as editor of Water Policy, the official journal of the World Water Council, where he previously served as a deputy governor.
