Mpayipheli Maliviwe was born at Mthatha in a village called Zimbane and is currently studying for a BSc at the University of Fort Hare: "I grew up with a dream of being a writer and I started writing IsiXhosa when I was doing standard two. At the moment none of my poems have been published yet, but I once competed successfully in a competition in the Umhlobo wenene radio station in 2006. The title of the poem is "uMzantsi Africa, ibhongo lam". Basically, my poems focus on the communal issues which affect our lifestyles.
