Arthur Goldstuck

Born in 1959, Arthur Goldstuck grew up in Trompsburg, Free State. He has worked as a journalist, magazine editor and news editor for the Weekly Mail and was the South African correspondent for Billboard and a freelance writer for South African and international publications, including Cosmopolitan and The Times of London.

His first publication, The Rabbit in the Thorn Tree (1990), was followed by further volumes: The Leopard in the Luggage (1993), Ink in the Porridge (1994), the best-selling IT book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Internet (1995), Never Play Leapfrog with a Unicorn (1996), The Art of Business on the Internet (1996), Money Talks But Mine Just Says Goodbye (1997), The Aardvark and the Caravan (1999), The Hitchhiker's Guide to Going Wireless (2005), and recently, The Ghost That Closed Down The Town: The story of the Haunting of South Africa (2006).


Goldstuck was awarded first prize in the online category of the Telkom ICT Journalist of the Year awards for 2003, and was runner-up in the lifestyle category for 2002 and the business magazine category in 2004. He represented South Africa as a judge for the Interactive category of the Cannes International Advertising Festival in France in 2002, and was a judge in the online category of the 2003 London International Advertising Festival. He currently heads the World Wide Worx organisation, an independent technology research body that provides market research and strategy in the use of technology.

A contributor to a number of South African publications on technology and business strategy issues, Arthur Goldstuck writes a monthly column for Intelligence magazine. He is editor of The Big Change, an electronic newsletter on business strategy in the high-tech economy, and editor-in-chief of Gadget, an online consumer technology magazine. He also lectures on trends in technology and business strategy at universities and other institutions. He lives in Johannesburg with his wife and two daughters.
