Al J Venter
Venter has made a career of covering other people's conflicts. He has written numerous books on the subject of guerrilla warfare in Southern Africa. A long-serving Africa and Middle East correspondent, his reports over the past 30 years have spanned four continents. He has also written numerous articles on warfare in Southern Africa for military magazines and has made more than 25 documentary films on Africa. Twice wounded and now well into his seventies, he recently flew combat in Sierra Leone. Venter still tries to go on operations when the opportunity presents itself, but now as author, filmmaker and photographer.
