Mark Espin was born in Cape Town in 1964. He matriculated from Cathkin High School in 1983 and spent the succeeding year and a half at the University of the Western Cape. He has worked as a Human Resources clerk in Cape Town and Bellville, and is now employed as a Projects Co-ordinator at the Centre for the Book, National Library, Cape Town. He has had poems, reviews and essays published in some South African literary magazines, newspapers and anthologies. He lives in Athlone.
