I am a family physician with an MPH (Master’s in Public Health) degree. I have experience in rural medicine, primary healthcare, HIV care and maternal and child health, as well as in the education of nurses, doctors and medical students. Between 2003 and 2010, I managed a large HIV programme at McCord Hospital in Durban. I have been involved in a variety of research studies in the field of HIV, TB, PMTCT and reproductive health. I have recently become interested in the field of medical humanities, including medical history. My husband, Steve, is also a medical doctor, and we have four children, one of whom is also a medical doctor.
