Fortunate Nkosi is a 23 year old girl who grew up in Soweto. She is mother to a 2 year old son. She was raised by a single parent after her father had walked out on her and her mother. Fortunate says, "It wasn't easy growing up, but my mum did her best to give me an education, and with every problem I faced, I hid myself in my writing."

She enjoyed writing since a very young age: "Every life experience I would write down, every feeling and emotion I could express on paper - I was always afraid of confrontation and not good in saying how I feel, but on paper I am the queen of my emotions and feelings."

"Maybe one day my dreams of being a poet might come true because through the years I fell in love with words".
