The Umbral Duo, consisting of Ignacio Correa and Sebastián Segarra will give a duo recital in the cosy Miriam Makeba Hall at Unisa’s main campus in Muckleneuk on Sunday 19 May at 16:00.
The guitar duo from Uruguay was formed in 2006 when they worked with Sergio Fernández Cabrera on a few performances of chamber music.
They aim to promote Latin American music internationally. Their niche repertoire requires both academic discipline and a serious approach to the style of folk art.
The versatile duo manages different musical aesthetics. They have performed at jazz festivals as well as chamber music venues in many different countries, including Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Czech Republic, Egypt, China and Japan.
In 2008 they received the Concours Funds Prize awarded by the Uruguay Ministry of Education and Culture, which afforded them the opportunity to perform concerts throughout Uruguay.
Tickets for the concert are sold at the door for R90 (adults) and R70 (students and pensioners).
