Om jou profiel op LitNet te skep is so maklik soos een, twee, drie. Volg die volgende eenvoudige stappe en word deel van die LitNet-gemeenskap.

To create your own profile on LitNet is as easy as the ABC. Follow the steps below and become part of the LitNet community.

1: Klik op hierdie skakel. Die blad sal in ’n nuwe venster oopmaak, sodat jy die stappe kan volg terwyl jy hier lees.

2: Maak eerstens seker dat LitNet nie reeds vir jou ’n profiel geskep het nie. Soek na jou naam op die “Bestaande gebruiker”-lysie. Klik op die pyltjie langs die blokkie en rol af om deur die lys te soek vir jou naam.

Indien jou profiel op hierdie lysie verskyn, het jy reeds ’n profiel op LitNet.  Stuur ’n e-pos aan bio@litnet.co.za met jou naam en kontaknommer om toegang tot jou profiel te verkry.  Ons sal vir jou ’n e-pos stuur met jou wagwoord, en dan kan jy dadelik inteken en jou profiel bywerk. 

3: Kies die opsie “I'm a new user” (heel bo aan die Bestaande gebruiker-lysie) en vul al jou gegewens onder “Persoonlike inligting” in. Kies liefs ’n wagwoord wat jy maklik sal onthou. Enige inligting wat jy hier plaas, sal met vertroulikheid hanteer word. Lees ons Bepalings en voorwaardes.

4: Kies vir jou ’n noemnaam waaronder jy op LitNet bekend sal staan. Jy kan jou eie naam of ’n skuilnaam kies. Vul dan jou noemnaam in die toepaslike blokkie onder “Inligting vir publikasie” in.

5: Klik op die “Laai foto”-skakel en die onderstaande blokkie sal verskyn:

Klik op “Browse” en kies ’n profielfoto wat op jou rekenaar gestoor is. Jou foto mag nie groter as 2 MB wees nie. Klik dan op “Open” en daarna op “Upload”. Die volgende boksie is nou sigbaar:

Trek die venstertjie bo-op jou foto om die deel van jou foto te kies wat jy as profielfoto wil gebruik. Klik dan op “Crop your photo”. Indien jy gelukkig is met hoe jou foto vertoon, klik op “I am done, thanks”. Indien nie, klik op “I want to try again ”en herhaal hierdie stap. 

6: In die “Biografie”-blokkie moet jy ietsie oor jouself vertel. ’n Sin of twee is heeltemal voldoende. 

7: Indien jy ’n Facebook-blad, blog of webtuiste het, kan jy skakels daarheen in jou LitNet-profiel plaas. Skryf bloot die naam van die blog of webtuiste in die linkerkantste kolom onder “Skakels” en plaas die skakel na die webtuiste of blog in die regterkantste kolom. Hierdie afdeling is egter nie verpligtend nie.

8: Merk jou voorkeure in die onderstaande twee boksies en maak seker jy het die Bepalings en voorwaardes gelees. Merk die laaste blokkie indien jy hierdie bepalings en voorwaardes aanvaar. As jy kies om van LitNet te hoor indien iemand op ’n artikel van jou kommentaar gelewer het, verseker asseblief dat die e-posadres wat jy aan ons verskaf, korrek is en werk.

9: Klik op “Registreer” en jou profiel is geskep! Wanneer jou profiel geregistreer is, kan jy dadelik met jou e-posadres en wagwoord hier inteken. Jou profiel self sal egter as “Privaat” gemerk wees totdat LitNet jou profiel-aansoek goedgekeur het.

10: Let asseblief daarop dat enige kommentaar wat jy onderaan ’n artikel maak, of enige artikel wat jy aan die LitNet-redaksie stuur, onderhewig is aan goedkeuring.

2: First you need to ensure that LitNet has not already created a profile for you.  Look for your name name on the “Existing User” list. Click on the drop down menu and scroll through the list to see the names.

If your name appears on this list, you already have a profile on LitNet.  Send an e-mail to bio@litnet.co.za with your name and contact details to gain access to it your profile.  We will send you an email containing a password and then you can log in and edit your profile.

If your name is not on this list, you need to register. Follow these steps.

3: Choose the option "I am a new user" (at the very top of the "Existing User" list). Complete the “Personal information” section. Choose a password that will be easy to remember. Information with which you provide us under “Personal information” will be handled with the utmost confidentiality. Please read our Terms and Conditions.

4: Choose a screen name by which you will be known on LitNet. This can be either your own name or a pseudonym. Fill in your name in the relevant box under “Information for publication”.

5. Click on the “Upload photo” link and the following box will appear:

Click on “Browse” and select a profile picture stored on your computer. Your photo may not be larger than 2 Mb. Click on “Open”. Then select “Upload”. The following box will now be visible:

Scale the window on your photo to select the part of the photo you want to use as your profile picture. Then click on “Crop your photo”. If you’re happy click on “I am done, thanks”. If not, click on “I want to try again” and repeat the process.

6: In the “Biography” box you need to write a sentence or two about yourself. 

7: If you have a Facebook page, a website or blog, you can link your LitNet profile to it. All you have to do is type the name of the website or blog in the left-hand column (under “Links”) and put the link to the website or blog in the right-hand column. This category is not compulsory. 

8: Select your preferences in the two boxes below. Make sure you read our Terms and conditions and tick the third box if you agree to these. If you would like to receive a notification when someone comments on an article of yours, please make sure the email address with which you’ve provided us is correct and functioning.

9. Click on “Register” and your profile is done!  When your profile has been registered you can log on to LitNet immediately. Your profile will, however, be marked “Private” until LitNet has approved your profile application.

10. Please note that any comments you make on existing articles, or any articles you send in to LitNet for publication, are subject to approval by LitNet.
